Vancouver Feline Hospital

Cats cleaning each other - opened October 2003.

Our commitment is to provide gentle compassionate care to every cat. Dr. Nicky Joosting is the only veterinarian, so you will always see the same veterinarian. The Hospital is well equipped, with digital technology wherever possible. By using the best medical technology available, we can meet our goal of a warm welcome environment providing the gentle care cats appreciate. Dr Nicky is able to do a lot of feline specialist-type medicine and surgery as a result, whilst maintaining the individual care and attention achievable in a single doctor practice.

We talk a lot, so consultation times can be over 30 minutes, depending on need. Our consultations and annual health exams are geared to give you the information you need to prevent future veterinary problems, manage current issues, and identify for effective treatment any new problem. Cats are secretive in illness, and very different to humans and dogs in our approach to diagnosis and treatments. Dr Nicky has more than 10 years of feline practice, and a personal lifetime of living with many cats. Her experience is broad and encompasses kittens to the very old cat. Special areas of expertise are feline dentistry, older cats and sick cat care. We work together with pharmacists and other veterinarians (with full access to specialists both in Vancouver and over the Internet) to provide the best solution for your cat.

We do all we can over and beyond standard veterinary practice to limit the distress of having a sick cat stay in hospital. Vancouver Feline Hospital, Vancouver Cat ClinicWhen your cat stays over for treatment, he/she will benefit from the clean large cages providing enough space for separate toilet and sleeping areas (soft cushion or a hidy box), ensuring maximum comfort and welfare. Door shields give extra privacy and a sense of security. No barking dogs. The list of cat-friendly adaptations is long. We believe that this and lots of love and TLC plays a very positive role in the recovery of sick cats.

We do stock "prescription" food (MediCal, Royal Canin, Hills), and preventative health products such as flea preventatives, dewormers, and feline vitamins. It has never been our intention to run a pet food store, so we keep a limited stock. The order is placed weekly on Thursday mornings, and if you call us before, we will order and set aside the items for you.

Boarding is limited to those cats that that need skilled care, such as diabetics, geriatrics or cats with chronic medical conditions. We do not offer boarding or any "cat hotel" service, prefering to refer you to a bevy of experienced and trusted catsitters, or special cat boarding facilities we know.

You do need to phone ahead for an appointment - 604-738-5100.
