Please Adopt Me: April 2008: Meet Giles

Gils Cat Adoption April 2008I have a cat who I love and who I've brought into you a few years ago before I moved out of Vancouver (and then back into it). Unfortunately, I need to move and can't keep him. I've had him for over 5 years and recognize that he's got several tendencies that will not sit well with alot of people. He's the sort of cat that needs to have someone around a ot even if they're not paying all of their attention to him. He also has some anxiety issues that don't enable him to be around a lot of people at once and he's quite timid of new people, doesn't like to be held by anyone but me and is skiddish. He's not an aggressive cat by any means and is quite friendly with someone once he is around them a while. He scratches my couch which I've gotten around by having soft paws put on him as I feel that declawing is incredibly torturous. However, most people, hearing that he claws the couch will likely immediately walk away right there. He doesn't normally urinate anywhere other than the litter box but one a few occasions has done so . . . after a move, if I've been gone for a long time on vacation, etc. It's not usually a problem but I feel that it is important to mention as he will likely do it if he's in a new environment with entirely new people. He's also a completely indoor cat, has never gone outside since I've had him with the exception of a jailbreak in the hallway of the apartment I had when he was a tiny kitten.

I really want to find him a safe home that will be able to handle his issues and don't want to put him somewhere that he'll be at risk of being put down. I really love him but can't keep him with me where I'll be going. I have no family or friends that can take him either. Can your organization help me to find him a new home or know of a way that I can get started to find somewhere that he'll be comfortable. I am really very much against putting him in a life threatening situation.

Any help or information you can provide me with would be most appreciated.
